Meteorological
Data Management
TERRA automates the reception, storage, and dissemination
of all types of aviation-oriented meteorological data in support
of flight operations.
TERRA supports the handling of textual (METAR, TAF), binary
(GRIB, BUFR) and images (radar, satellite) data and products. TERRA
creates Wind and Temperature charts and Significant Weather
charts (SIGWX)
from BUFR and GRIB-formatted binary products received through
the ISCS and SADIS network.
TERRA comes with an extensive graphical user interface for
the query and display of all data and products stored in the
meteorological database.
TERRA supports the briefing functions of JUPITER (NOTAM
Data Management) and VENUS (Pilot Self Briefing) by providing
selected meteorological data tailored to specific flight
operations. It can also be integrated with forecasting
workstations available in the market for the support of
local analysis of weather information and the production
of meteorological products.
Features:
• Handles all types of Met data and products (textual,
binary and graphics)
• Processes binary data to create Upper Air Wind &
Temperate and Significant Weather Charts
• Produces Meteorological Bulletins
• Supports Weather Alert Messages
• Supports Weather Query by messages (AFTN, e-mail)
Data Supported
TERRA seamlessly integrates with AFTN/CIDIN, SADIS/ISCS and
WMO GTS networks to acquire meteorological data. TERRA supports
the following data types:
Textual
• Aerodrome Observations (METAR and
SPECI) • Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF)
• SIGMET
• AIRMET • Area Forecasts •
Other Warnings Messages • Pilot
Reports
Image
• Wind and Temperature Charts
• Significant Weather Charts (SIGWX)
• Satellite Imagery (Vistual and IR)
• Radar Mosaics and Animations
• Locally created graphic products
in T4, GIF, PNG, or JPG format. •
Graphical products acquired from the public Internet
Binary
• GRIB – Wind, temperature,
humidity, and precipitation data prepared by one of the WAFS
centers • BUFR – Mid
and High Level Significant Weather Charts •
BUFR – Textual data (METAR and TAF)
Data Processing
TERRA processes binary data and create high quality meteorological
graphics such as the upper air wind and temperature chart
and mid and high-level significant weather SIGWX charts.
Production of Meteorological Bulletins
TERRA produces Meteorological Bulletins that can be scheduled
for production at a specific time on specific days prior to
transmission to a specified destination.
Meteorological Query
TERRA allows both interactive and message-based queries for
all textual and graphical weather information.
Supports Weather Alert Messages
TERRA supports Weather Alert Messages (WAM). Individual
subscribers can define the weather conditions at specific
locations that are significant to their flight operations. When
a condition is met, TERRA automatically generates a weather
alert message. The message header, contents of the text, specified
stations and matching conditions are specified as configuration
information.
Integration with JUPITER/VENUS
Textual and graphical meteorological data and products can
be included in the Pre-Flight Information Bulletins (PIB)
whenever TERRA is integrated with JUPITER (NOTAM Data Management). TERRA
can be integrated with VENUS for the support of Pilot Self-briefing
services over the Internet. |
