Message
Handling
MERCURY automates the exchange of international and domestic
aeronautical messages between civilian aviation administration
(CAA) facilities, airline users, aviation service providers
and military organizations.
At MERCURY’s core is its high performance Message Handling
Server (MHS) that supports all the message formats commonly
used by the aeronautical organizations. Adaptable by
design, the MHS can be configured to run as a main switch,
mini-switch, concentrator or gateway. This provides customers
with the ability to use a single architecture to solve many
configuration requirements. Its built-in flexibility allows
for seamless integration with common communication protocols
– from low speed point-to-point circuits to modern wide
area networks (WAN).
MERCURY comes with a complete suite of products including
the AIT
(User Agent/AFTN Terminal) , Directory Services and ATN Router
to
support both the basic and extended AMHS services in full
compliance
with the ICAO ATN Standard and Recommendation Practices (SARPS).

Features
• High performance message routing capabilities
• Supports all aviation and meteorological communication
protocols
• Multi-format messaging support
• Dual system architecture ensures high availability
• Automated detailed reporting for in depth system analysis
• Standard aeronautical forms for operator ease of use
Message Handling Server (MHS)
The Message Handling Server (MHS) features a multi-protocol,
multi-format messaging engine that efficiently and accurately
performs communication and message routing operations.
The MHS is based on a high performance memory queuing system
which yields exceptional performance while ensuring message
integrity. The MHS supports all the industry message
formats and protocols including:
• AFTN • CIDIN
• AMHS (X.400)
• SITA/IATA |
• SADIS/ICSC
• Internet E-mail (RFC-822)
• WMO |
The MHS integrated statistical system (STATS) produces automated
and ad-hoc reports covering daily, weekly, monthly and yearly
traffic – these enable managers and system administrators
to perform detailed analysis.
Aeronautical Information Terminal
(AIT)
The Aeronautical Information Terminal (AIT) supports the transmission,
reception, display, storage and printing of aeronautical messages.
It can be configured to run as an AMHS (X.400) User Agent
or as an AFTN Terminal.
The AIT features a native address book in addition integrating
national and international directory services - defined in
the ATN SARPS - for fast and flexible lookup of message addresses.
Operators who use the AIT can easily compose complex ATS messages
including flight plans, NOTAM and METAR messages using standard,
built-in forms.
The AIT can be optionally configured to automatically print
flight strips from received FPL and ATS messages.
Directory Services
The Directory Services is a high performance X.500 Directory
server satisfying the requirements of the ATN SARPS, Sub-volume
7.
ATN Router
The ATN Router is fully compliant with the 3rd Edition of
the ATN SARPS, Sub-volume 5. This router is configured
whenever the MHS is connected to the ATN backbone. |
