GWDI was founded in 1973 in the State of Delaware with the company’s corporate headquarters located in Monterey, California, USA.

GWDI is owned by Cambridge Information Group (www.cambridgeinformationgroup.com). Based in Bethesda, Maryland, CIG is a holding company that controls a number of successful technology companies. As part of CIG, GWDI benefits from access to a strong management team.

Experience
 
GWDI has been supplying data communication system including high performance message switching systems since 1974.  Before 1984, GWDI focused exclusively on meteorological administrations and installed WMO (World Meteorological Organization) message switches in over 25 countries around the world. 
 
In 1985, GWDI supplied its first AFTN Message Switch and in 1988 its first Aeronautical Information System (AIS) to automate the management of NOTAM data and the production of pre-flight information bulletins to the Danish Civil Aviation Administrations. 
 
To date, GWDI has designed and implemented systems in over 40 countries around the world.

Mature Products/Solutions

GWDI offers full range of products/solutions and services to the world’s Civil Aviation Administrations (CAA) and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP).

The solutions have been designed over two decades of thorough understanding of the aviation industry needs and civilian aviation service provider’s responsibilities. All are in full compliance with the standards established by the International Civil Aeronautical Organization (ICAO), Eurocontrol and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

GWDI has implemented a common technology framework throughout its solutions featuring the Linux OS, MySQL, web and thin-client based user interfaces. This benefits customers by:

GWDI has a team of experienced staff, most of them have been with the company for 10 years or more.  In today’s labor market where frequent job changes are the norm, this says something for the loyalty and dedication of GWDI staff.
 
The development staff is a combination of industry experts and young engineering talent.  The presence of the industry experts who are all long-term employees while the new engineering staff brings expertise in new technology and software development methodology.
