GWDI is awarded a contract for an AFTN/CIDIN system in Saudi Arabia

Monterey, CA U.S.A. February 20, 2001

GWDI of Monterey, California, USA, announces that it has been awarded a contract to provide an Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network(AFTN)/Common ICAO Data Interchange Network (CIDIN) Automatic Message Switching system to the Presidency of Civil Aviation (PCA) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This contract is part of a larger contract for aeronautical telecommunications equipment, which the PCA has awarded to the GENTEC Telecommunications Division of Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co., Ltd., of Jeddah. Global Weather Dynamics, Inc., will be acting as a sub-contractor to GENTEC. The system will consist of a main switch installed at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and two Mini Switch Terminals installed at the King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The systems will operate on two pairs of powerful 64-bit RISC AlphaServer® computers from Compaq® Computer Corporation. The Mini Switch Terminals will be hosted on high-end Intel Pentium® based personal computers. Development versions of the system will also be provided. Factory testing is scheduled for August and installation are due to commence in September 2001.
