VERDE ACCEPTS GWDI’S MESSAGING SYSTEM
Monterey, California, USA, January 26, 2005.
Global Weather Dynamics, Inc. (GWDI) announces that it has
completed the commissioning of its messaging system for the
account of the Civil Aviation Administration of Cape Verde
(ASA).
The system installed at the Oceanic Control Center of SAL
consists of GWDI’s Message Handling System (MHS) and
Aeronautical Information Terminal (AIT) to support ground
communication between the operators located in Cape Verde
and the countries of Senegal, Portugal and Spain.
The MHS is a multi-protocol, multi-message format message-handling
server supporting all the networks, message formats, and procedures
used in the aeronautical community. In Cape Verde, The
MHS is configured with the AFTN and AMHS (X.400) message handling
procedures including an AFTN/AMHS Gateway. It is connected
to the Airtel ATN Router for the connection to the Aeronautical
Telecommunication Network (ATN). The MHS also supports
an interface to Indra’s Flight Data Processing System
(FDPS). The AIT provides the tools for the operators
to send and receive aeronautical messages in the AFTN and
AMHS (X.400) formats.
The system was supplied through a subcontract to Indra ATM
and as part of the SISASTAL project. “The System
is the first ATM System in the world with capacity to provide
ATN (aeronautical telecommunications network) capabilities
for Flight Plan data and ADS/CPDLC functions” said Pedro
Merino, Indra ATM Program Manager.
“The Cape Verde project is the result of GWDI’s
continuing commitment for designing and implementing state
of the art systems for the CAA market in compliance with new
ICAO and Eurocontrol requirements” said John Fort, Chief
Operating Officer at GWDI.
