CONTRACTS GWDI FOR AIT WITH FLIGHT STRIP CAPABILITIES
Monterey, California, USA, September 21, 2005.
GWDI announces that it has received a contract from Luftfartsverket
(LFV) to deliver its Aeronautical Information Terminal (AIT)
with Flight Strip capabilities.
In 1998, GWDI supplied its Message Handling System (MHS) configured
for AFTN, CIDIN and WMO messages to LFV in Sweden. GWDI
also supplies its AIT used by the LFV’s Operators for
sending, receiving and printing AFTN messages.
The enhanced AIT with Flight Strip capabilities supports the
display of “electronic flight strip”, in which
the flight plans and other ATS messages are converted to flight
strips and displayed on the operator's screen. The flight
strips are automatically updated upon the receipt of Departure,
Arrival and other ATS messages. The flight strips are
also printed using Intermec printers.
“The AIT with Flight Strip capabilities will relieve
the responsibility of the Air Traffic Controller to manually
produce the flight strip at small control towers/airports
where staffing is limited” said Magnus Lingstrom, Project
Manager at LFV.
