NAVIAIR ACCEPTS COMMISSIONING OF GWDI’S MESSAGE HANDLING AND MET INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Monterey, California, USA, March 15, 2005.

Global Weather Dynamics, Inc. (GWDI) announces that NAVIAIR has accepted the commissioning of its Message Handling and MET Information Systems.

In 1985, GWDI supplied its first AFTN message switch and in 1988 its first Aeronautical Information System (AIS) and OPMET databank to the Danish Civil Aviation Administration.  The systems were hosted on Data General Computers and have been operating until the recent upgrade.
The new systems installed at Copenhagen airport include GWDI’s Message Handling System (MHS) and MET Information System hosted on high-end Intel-based servers running the Linux OS and MySQL RDBMS offering a major reduction in the operating costs of the systems.

The MHS is a multi-protocol, multi-message format message-handling server supporting all the networks, message formats, and procedures used in the aeronautical community.  In Copenhagen, the MHS is configured for AFTN and CIDIN message handling procedures.  It is also configured with a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for the monitoring of operational parameters.

The MET Information System supports the acquisition, storage and distribution of meteorological data and products.  The weather information generated by the system is used not only by the pilots but also by other CNS/ATM systems operated by Naviair.

“Over the past 20 years, Naviair and GWDI have established a long term partnership that will continue to expand in the future.” said John Fort, COO at GWDI.
