LATVIJAS
GAISA SATIKSME (LGS) OF LATVIA AWARDS CONTRACT TO GLOBAL WEATHER
DYNAMICS (GWDI) FOR AN AERONAUTICAL COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION
SYSTEM.
MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA, USA, JULY 22, 2003.
Global Weather Dynamics, Inc. (GWDI) announces that Mr. Edijs
Kizenbahs, President and Chairman of the Board of LGS, a State
Joint-Stock company for Air Spare Utilization and Air Traffic
Management, has awarded a contract to GWDI to supply an AFTN
message switch system and an Aeronautical Information System
for the management of Latvian Airspace.
The system to be installed at Riga International Airport includes
GWDI’s Message Handling System (MHS), Aeronautical Information
System (AIS) and the Aeronautical Information Terminal (AIT).
The MHS will be configured for AFTN operation and integrated
with the existing communications infrastructure. The
AIS will manage the creation of pilot briefings and the management
of flight plans. It will also include an interface to
the Eurocontrol Aeronautical Database (EAD). The AIT
will be installed at numerous sites within Latvia and provide
LGS operators with a PC-based terminal. The new systems
will fully comply with the requirements of the International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Eurocontrol.
