CZECH
ANS CONTRACTS GWDI FOR UPGRADE OF ITS COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION
SYSTEMS
Monterey, California, USA, September 26, 2005.
GWDI announces that Mr. Petr Materna, Director General at
the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, has awarded
a contract to GWDI to upgrade its data communication and aeronautical/meteorological
information systems.
In 1995, GWDI supplied an integrated AFTN, CIDIN, NOTAM and
OPMET systems as well as a countrywide X.25 network to the
Czech Republic ANS. The systems were hosted on Digital
Equipment Servers running the Unix OS.
With this contract, GWDI will upgrade all the existing systems
as well as implement a new pilot self-briefing system.
The systems will be installed at the newly constructed IATCC
Prague Building. They will be hosted on new Pentium-based
servers running the Linux OS and the MySQL RDBMS reducing
the Total-Cost-Of-Ownership of the systems.
The pilot self-briefing system will provide a one-stop-shop
for briefing officers, pilots and airlines dispatchers to
gather all information relevant to a flight using local or
remote PC running an Internet web browser. The electronic
flight briefing booklet delivered to the user will include
information about flight plans, NOTAM, textual and graphical
meteorological data and products as well as reference data
(AIP and charts).
“The new systems will incorporate a new Java-based graphical
user interface as well as a number of functional enhancements.
These will ease the tasks of the systems administrators in
the daily management of the systems as well as facilitating
the access to the aeronautical and meteorological data and
products by the users” said Milan Dvorak, Project Manager
at Czech ANS.
“It is really rewarding to execute this follow on project.
We have been working with the Czech ANS staff since 1994 and
together have embraced new technologies in the aviation and
computer industries” said Jonathan Paul, CTO at GWDI.
